Dear friends, colleagues & fellow creatures,

In this newsletter I would like to take you through my solo booth at Art Dusseldorf with Durst Britt & Mayhew, Wandering Wombs during Gallery Weekend Berlin and an open studio presentation for my participation in ORAP.

An inflated bunny on her back. Large belly protruding upwards. Her legs spread wide revealing a hot pink entrance. To some people this big bouncy bunny might just look like ‘grotesque’, ‘fun’ or ‘childish’. Others see the art historical reference to Niki de Saint Phalle right away, or the comparison to the post-partum body: swollen, hollowed out and in constant service of another organism. Or like one visitor very aptly described; “it’s like a huge blowup doll, how can it not be about s3ggs?!”

Most art fairs are challenging for my mental health, but this one left me feeling heard, energised and inspired. During the preview I had the opportunity to give some insight to groups of visitors because of the many many amazing tourguides who passed by our booth. I will not forget a particular group of only men (quite literally a boys club), who were actually spending time with my work and listening when I told them about the brutal and psychedelic experience of post-partum that kickstarted this project and the interdependency between species we all must foster.

But most of all what struck me is the women who shared with me how much they could relate, beyond words, beyond art fair talk or art jargon. Thank you for opening up to me, for entering the bunny and Uprooted’s complex world.

Wandering Wombs opened last Friday, a duo-exhibition together with Tanja Ritterbex at See Our Vision in Berlin.
For Tanja and I both it was so much fun to work together finally (how come no one had ever thought of this epic combo?!). We’ve enmeshed our works together like a chaotic but tender Gesamtkunstwerk..

Drawing on the ancient Greek myth of the "wandering womb" — once used to pathologize women's bodies as inherently wayward and ungovernable — Wandering Wombs frames this history as a site of reclamation and reimagining.

Both artists approach these subjects through intimacy, humour, and an unflinching willingness to sit with contradiction, circling the same questions, the same wonders and the same wounds and spotlighting them from different perspectives.

The exhibition brings together video installation, sculpture, and painting that trace the emotional and political landscapes of reproductive experience, bodily autonomy, mothering, and the fragile co-existence of human and non-human life.

Go and visit the exhibition during Gallery Weekend, 2-7PM, on 1-2 May 2026. The exhibition runs through May 16, and will have a performative finissage by a special guest to be announced soon <3

WANDERING WOMBS HANDMADE ZINE

For the exhibition, SOV created a special handmade zine expanding the worlds, tensions, and emotional landscapes moving through the show. The zine drifts between emotional document, and strange companion piece to the exhibition itself. There will also be one more surprise hidden inside of it.

We are especially excited to present:
an excerpt from "The Baby Bar" by Claire van Lubeek,
an essay "The Fourth Trimester" by Mia Butter,
photography of the exhibited works, alongside fragments orbiting around bodies, care, control, intimacy, and instability.

ONLINE RESIDENCY FOR ARTISTS PARENTS (ORAP)

During February - April this year, I’ve been an artist in residence at ORAP (Online Residency for Artist Parents) together with Proyecto Cocuyo and LI Yuchen, hosted by Jessica Capra from The Artists and The Others, and mentored by Mirthe Berendsen, Jelle Wijnstroom and Joep Vossebeld. It’s been a very supportive and eye-opening experience to share time, doubts and ideas amongst other artist parents and in the final presentation we will talk about our current projects and research.
